BLACKPOOL ASTRONOMY
The Secret Language of a Nervous Breakdown (LP)
Seattle shoegaze/psych band Blackpool Astronomy’s The Secret Language of a Nervous Breakdown comes out on Sao Paulo, Brazil based label, The Blog That Celebrates Itself Records on April 25th. The band enlisted Evan Foster (Boss Martians, The Sonics) to record and mix the tracks on the LP. Heavy loud and full of heartfelt and deep emotions, listeners will appreciate the trio’s nod to their love of '80s post-punk and '90s shoegaze with a touch of 60’s psychedelic soundscapes. The record is the long awaited follow up to the award winning 2015 album “Tripping the Mortal Coil”

Press:
“Shoegaze rock continues to balloon in popularity in Seattle, as evidenced by the newish local duo Blackpool Astronomy. They fall on the more turbulent side of the shoegaze spectrum—more Swervedriver, Telescopes, and My Bloody Valentine circa “You Made Me Realise” than Slowdive or Seefeel, so you’ll probably be whipping your hair around in a vortex rather than gently nodding your head. The few songs I’ve heard by them suggest they could be an exciting proposition live, perhaps filling the void left by Jetman Jet Team’s absence.”
-Dave Segal, The Stranger

“Imagine a cross between Fugazi at extremely high speed,
Killing Joke and MBV imagined? Certainly what would
happen would be something quite claustrophobic, insane and sick,
Right? And I will tell you that this mixture basically impossible exists and comes from Seattle, Washington. Blackpool Astronomy are creating some of the sickest music of our times. Simply Essential and not recommended for
indie kids.”
-Renato Malizia, The That Celebrates Itself
